Your car has TPS. Do you still need to check the tire pressure? While Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems have been phased in over the last couple of years, they are now mandatory on all cars sold in the US. Unfortunately, these systems only give a warning when the pressure (single tire or combined) hits 30% below the recommended inflation. Your car’s performance can be affected by even a small decrease in pressure. Handling and braking are compromised while fuel economy can drop up to 3%! Check your tires at least once per month to be safe.
